The mural was commissioned to honor what once stood on this very site — The Hope Gallery, a beloved open-air art space in Austin.
The Hope Gallery was a living canvas for graffiti artists, a place where creativity was spontaneous, raw, and free.
When the condominiums were built, the owners wanted to preserve that creative spirit — to keep alive the memory of a place that symbolized community, freedom of expression, and the city’s soul.
“HOPE” is the word that threads everything together — not nostalgia, but regeneration. It’s about honoring memory while celebrating transformation — turning loss into living beauty. My intention is for viewers to feel a sense of reconnection, an awareness that art and nature continue to grow through us.
